Endometritis - Symptom, Causes, Treatment of Endometritis
Endometritis is the inflammation of the endometrium (lining of the rerus), usually due to infection. Endometritis is a feature of pelvic inflammatory disease , or may occur after childbirth, miscarriage or induced abortion especially if fragments of the placenta remain in the uterus. Endometritis causes lower abdominal pain, fever, and an increased vaginal discharge that is usually yellow and bad-smelling. Endometritis is treated with antibiotics and, if necessary, by removing any retained placental tissue.
