Epispadias- Symptom, Causes, Treatment of Epispadias
Epispadias is a rare abnormality, present from birth, in which the opening of the urethra (which drains urine from the bladder) is not at the tip of the penis, but somewhere along the upper surface of its shaft. In
extensive defects the urethra may be open all the way to the bladder. Corrective surgery during infancy is advised. Tissue from the foreskin is used to reconstruct the urethra so that its outlet is as
close as possible to the nomal position. More than one operation may be necessary to create a penis that will be satisfactory for sexual intercourse.
