Fluoridation - Symptom, Causes, Treatment of Fluoridation
Fluoridation is the addition of a small amount of fluoride to the water supply in order to prevent tooth decay. Although some water supplies are rich in natural fluorides, in many parts of Australia and Newzealand fluoride is considered inadequate, in these placesit has been added to the water supply - usually in the proportion of I part fluoride to a million parts of water. Fluoridation of water supplies is a controversial matter, but there is no evidence that fluoride is harmful at the recommended level, and it has been shown to be effective in reducing tooth decay. In areas where the water supply is not fluoridated and natural fluorides arc low, protection against tooth decay may be gained through fluoride tablets or drops.
