Heat Rash- Symptom, Causes, Treatment of Heat Rash
Heat Rash is an acute skin eruption that can occur in hot, humid weather. Heat rash (also called prickly heat) results when the lining of the duct leading from a sweat gland to the surface of the skin becomes swollen and blocks the outflow of sweat. The trapped sweat is forced into the surrounding skin, where it causes innammation, a prickling sensation and often severe itching. The rash tends to occur where skin isfineand generally covered by clothing, and typically appears as clusters of small red lumps with a tiny central blister. Treatment is by cooling and drying the skin. Corticosteroid lotions help to reduce inflammation and relieve the itch. Preventionis by using fans, airconditioning and light cotton clothing to keep the skin cool and dry.
