Hemianopia- Symptom, Causes, Treatment of HemianopiaHemianopia is the loss of half of the visual field in both eyes. The same or opposite sides of the visual fields can be affected. The condi'tion is caused by temporary or permanent disturbance of the optic nerve fibres, or the part of the brain where vision is perceived. Temporary hemianopia can occur in migraine or in brief disturbances of the blood supply to part of the brain. Permanent hemianopia can result from stroke; damage to the back of the brain or optic nerve pathways by injury, infection or tumour; or pressure on the opticnerve by pituitary tumours.
