Tinea Pedis Information - Symptoms and Treatment
Tinea pedis is a type of fungal infection related to foot which is caused due to a dermatophyte fungus. Tinea pedis thrives in warm humid conditions and is most common in young adult men. It is the most common fungal infection. There seems to be a higher incidence in males and it is the least common in children. But when it does occur in children it is often misdiagnosed Treatment of Tinea PedisTreatment of Tinea Pedis includes: 1) Dry your feet after showering 2) For severe cases, oral medications such as sporanox, griseofluvin, and Diflucan may be prescribed. 3) Antifungal creams (e.g., Clotrimazole) 4) Wear shoes which are not conjusted or having good ventialtion. 5) Wear socks that keep the feet dry 6) Surgical care is usually not required 7) Topical agents active against causative dermatophytes include, Miconazole, Clotrimazole, Ketoconazole and Sulconazole.
