Wrinkles Information - Symptoms and Treatment

Wrinkles are found primarily on the parts of the body where sun exposure is greatest. The areas especially include the face, neck, the backs of the hands, and the tops of the forearms. It usually refers to folds on fabric or clothes , or on the skin of an organism; the folds are generally random and do not exhibit any repeating pattern. Wrinkles are visible creases in the skin. Besides wrinkles, other skin changes may include liver spots (pigmented areas). Wrinkles in turn can be divided into two categories; fine, surface lines and deep furrows. The severity of these changes in an individual depends on genetic tendency, skin phototype and exposure to environmental factors.

Wrinkles are not usually a concern unless they occur at an early age. Some people in their 20s have little wrinkles around their eyes (called "crow's feet") from squinting or spending too much time in the sun. Eventually, however, everyone will have at least a few wrinkles. It's a natural part of the aging process.Besides wrinkles, other skin changes may include liver spots (pigmented areas). The hair and nails also change with aging, including graying of the hair, hair loss, and brittleness of the nails.

Treatment

There are many treatment methods available for treating Wrinkles. Prescription treatments, including the retinoid cream renova, are also an option. Patients should fully inform themselves about the risks and potential benefits of the procedure they are considering before going forward. Plastic surgery (for a facelift , browlift, or other procedure) is available as an elective procedure that is generally paid for entirely by the patient, not by insurance. It is most important to protect the skin from the sun life-long using sunscreens on exposed areas daily, and to avoid smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke or other pollutants.

Prevention Tips

  • Don't go to the tanning salon. The UV light from tanning booths is just as damaging as the sun's - and sometimes worse.
  • Don't smoke! Smoking robs your skin of precious moisture and causes premature (early) wrinkles
  • Drink water .
  • Moisturize dry skin, especially during months when the air is drier.
